David Hockney Week

This week in Oak Class we have created our own David Hockney paintings. We had to collage our own person to put in to the pool. But first we had to paint the swimming pool. We learnt about tints and tones then we explore patterns. To create the water effect we used 3 different methods. One was taking your pen for a walk, another was wiggly lines and the last method was wax resist.

In PSHE we have been learning about dental health. We are experts at how to brush our teeth now!!

School Trip

Our new topic this term is Out and About.
We went on a school trip to Rickmansworth Waterways. We went on an old canal boat called the Roger, we spotted different things on out canal boat trip. Rob told us when we got there that there were 3 activities. We had an important rule to follow which was no running. One of the activities was Victorian washing.
The next day in English we used pictures and put them in the right order. We then wrote about our whole day.

In Maths we have been learning about multiplication. These means we have been putting numbers in to groups and in PSHE we have been learning about healthy choices.

Another week of learning

In English we have been reading the story 'I want my hat back'. We asked questions and we recorded why the bear liked his hat so much. We also spoke about why the rabbit stole the hat.

In Maths we have been learning to subtract. One subtraction is 5 - 2 = 3. Our rule for subtraction sentences, is that you start with the biggest number.

We have been doing some dictation in Guided Reading to help us with our phonics and handwriting.

Science has taken 2 weeks! This is because we have been learning about crystals. A crystal is made when liquid starts off hot and then cools. We made a crystal in the classroom it looked like a flower.
